Double show duty

Today felt like I was freelancing with all the switching back and forth between the two different shows that are being prepared. We've got "People Next Door" at Yale Rep (the converted church) and "Duchess of Malfi" at University Theater (usually referred to as the UT). I spent the morning at the UT, moving multi-cables in the grid, reweighting pipes as we add lights, and re-running circuits on the deck. I had to go to the Rep twice to get more cables and accessories for the dry ice machine. While I was at the Rep, I checked in with that show's Master Electrician to get a sense of the work ahead. After a standard 1/2 hour lunch (grr, hate that), focus the newly added lights at the UT, run to the Rep again for more stuff, while there check in with the lighting designer and pass on encouraging words to the UT designer, and help the UT show get ready for rehearsal, including a full channel check. Then back to the Rep to help them with their dinner notes. There we switched out and focused 10 lights and touched up the focus on a few more. Boy, are my legs and feet tired!

The weather lately has been really nice. The last two days have been sunny with highs in the mid 40's. We'll have some rain tomorrow with a high of 52; it'll feel like a San Francisco day! Then more sunny days with the temps staying in the 50's. I even saw a guy wearing shorts today. The morning light on the Yale building is really nice, I'll have to take some pics sometime.

The past weekend wasn't so nice to us. Late Friday night I came down with a nasty viral intestinal bug and had to miss a full day of work on Saturday that would have been all overtime (GRRRR). Jamie came down with it late Sunday and he missed work on Monday. Instead, I spent Saturday seeing a doctor, then we slept a lot, watched "Serenity" on DVD, and just took it easy.
