New York Spring! (still rainy)
Saturday was another wonderful day trip to NY, NY.
We started by visiting Project Runway Season 2 Alum Emmett McCarthy at his store in SoHo. He was very friendly and eagerly spoke with us regarding his time in New Haven. His fashions were bright and colorful but still sized for models and at boutique prices. My first brush with reality TV star, Wheee!

We spent the rest of the very rainy day exploring SoHo and discount shopping. We stumbled upon a Young Designers Market being held in a tiny school auditorium. There I found a photographer who takes her very vivid and bright pictures and has them made into tops and dresses. I bought three items from her, including a zip up top with taxis on it for my sister-in-law, a tank top with a light up sign of Chicago (the city) and a mesh top of Italian architecture in the morning sun. Jamie instantly calls it my "Light in the Piazza" shirt. Lots of jewelry makers were there, most were ho-hum but I did find a semi-precious stone and gold necklace I couldn't leave behind (see below). Afterwards we went to a pizza place featuring "Vodka Pizza" that was very good. Three slices and a bowl of good soup between the two of us was only $16 - Yay!
We saw Ground Zero today. Still emotional to see. But the new construction of the train station and all the portables around lessen the impact.

We went walking along Columbus Ave by Lincoln Center and had dinner at Hunan Park, a very yummy Chinese restaurant. Then we saw "Light in the Piazza" 'cause I really wanted to see Chris Ackerlind's Tony -award winning lighting design. It was a very well done show. Loved the acting and the complex set and the beautiful cyc and excellent sound, but nothing really hummable in the music.
Aside from the rain, it was a perfect day in NY.
