Starting at New theater
(We've got only dial-up for now, so no pics for a while. Visit these entries again later for the pics)
Jamie and I are now living in Stockbridge, MA. Berkshire Theater Festival (BTF) is putting us up in a 1927 farmhouse.
The main room of this house is HUGE and perfect for large gatherings of people. We also have two small bedrooms, a small bathroom, nice kitchen with dishwasher, a washer/dryer in the basement, and an enclosed sun porch. We're sharing the house with the Paint Charge, Erin, who is a veteran of the festival for the past several years. The owners of the farmhouse, with their two kids and two cats, live in the addition, which dwarfs the original house. Everyone is jealous of us 'cause the usual housing is a little run-down from regular use, and our place is pretty new.
In the last few days, I've been meeting so many new folks.
Pictured is my Electrics crew: L to R is myself, Joel, Sara, and Cartland.
Joel and Sara are my interns and Cartland is my Assistant Master Electrician, who was an intern at BTF last year. They're all great, hard-working folk who really enjoy electrics and are easy to work with. I've got one more intern coming next month, and I share a swing tech, Adam, with Scenic.
In the past week, while I was packing the house and getting thru my last week at Yale, my assistant kicked ass doing all the inventory and helping to prep for maintenance. And this week he kicked ass by being a great assistant and guiding the interns in the work that needed to be done. We've maintained all the lights BTF owns for the Mainstage theater, prepped the upcoming show, received the rental package for the Unicorn (the smaller theater), hung/circuited/troubleshot the light plot for the first show, The Illusion, trained the interns on how to program on an Express 250, set up the tech tables. and worked on the two practical lights for the show; all by Thursday afternoon. And focus isn't until Saturday, with first Tech rehearsal on Monday.
Now it's Tuesday, day two of tech rehearsal is just finished. I have a happy Lighting Designer and a grumpy Technical Director to work with. More details to come.
