Surrounding Area

8:30p
I talked with both Ben, the Production Manager type at Yale, and Don. Ben said they'll contact me tomorrow in regards to when they can contact me about a decision. The job I am applying for has to be listed on the university job board for a minimum period of time before an offer can be made. Ben said to me "a small handful of people are being considered."

Then I called Don and asked him 2 questions. The first was the same as I asked Ben. Don said "we flew you out here so you can make your own decision about coming here...That's all I can say for now"

That last statment does not imply anything. Really. It doesn't. (So why am I giddy AND scared now?)

I spent my afternoon after the meet and greet walking around town and Yale. I visited Wooster Square, walked around the park there, looking at some addresses i found on the Yale Off-Campus Housing Website.
The buildings run the gamut from old and beautiful to still under renovation to the occasional ugly place. The neighborhood is really quiet and cute. Saw a few dog walkers, found the Catholic Church, and was suprised at the fact that there was a public park the size of a full city block in the middle and there were no homeless camped out there. These places could be walkable to Yale, but it would be a bitter cold walk in winter. And I would have to walk over the railroad tracks and thru 3 not so nice blocks before I got onto the far side of campus. But it is easy access to the freeway and the buses go by during the day. And i could work out pickup times with Jamie as needed.

And the 2nd question i asked Don:
Where's a good pizza and beer place? BAR on Crown by High St. An easy walk from the hotel and theater area, brews their own beers including an excellent Stout, and makes a mean pizza.

Let's hope I'm not too hung over tomorrow.

Wish me a safe journey home.
